SOUTH AFRICAN MEADOW RANGE
The South African Meadow range is a collection of fresh and contemporary floral patterns. Each pattern draws its inspiration from the flowers of a specific floral region, and is made up of drawings and paintings which have been scanned and digitally collaged into patterns.
The Cape Meadow pattern was the first repeat pattern designed by Frances White. The impetus behind it was to be able to upholster a couch or a big, soft wing-chair in it, and be able to lie in one’s own Cape Meadow, no matter where one was. The design is made up of gouache paintings and drawings of flowers from the Cape Floral Kingdom; one of six recognised floral kingdoms of the world. The artwork has been scanned, digitally collaged and printed onto thick, soft cotton base-cloth.
